Each type of metal requires a particular type of care to maintain the original finish, if that is what you desire. Most metals, including brass, copper, and sterling silver will tarnish and darken through contact with everyday things like skin oils or water. A simple rub with a polishing cloth should be sufficient to return your jewelry to it's bright and beautiful state. In the case of extreme tarnish, a dip in tarnish remover may be necessary. There are several on the market available from most jewelry stores and they all work about the same. after a dip and rinse, give your piece a rub with the polishing cloth and it should be good as new.
For jewelry that comes with a patina finish, you may rub lightly with a polishing cloth to brighten it up, but should you polish too much the patina will be removed and the bare metal will shine through. If this happens or the patina on your Clementine & Co. jewelry is removed through normal wear and you would like the finish re-applied, we would be happy to do that for you for a small fee. Please send an email inquiry before sending in your jewelry for any reason so that we will be ready to process it in a timely manner.
