Circle
The circle is among the most essential of human symbols. Abstractly, it represents both an absolute void and the totality of things. It is found throughout time and in every culture in various forms: the sun disc Ra, the ouroboros, yin-yang, Native American medicine wheel, and the wedding ring all represent wholeness, unity, and renewal. The circle is at once inclusive and protective, unifying and individuating. It defines the boundaries of sanctified space and projects the light of divinity as the halo. It is through the circular windows of the eye that we perceive the world and through which we ourselves are seen.
